Unemployment rate was realized as 8.8%
Number of unemployed persons increased by 254 thousand persons in the period of May 2013 and has reached to 2 million 526 thousand persons in Turkey. Unemployment rate realized as 8.8% with 0.6 percentage point increase. Non-agricultural unemployment rate was realized as 11% with 0.6 percentage point increase and youth unemployment rate was realized as 16.6% with 0.7 percentage point increase.Employment increased by 848 thousand
Number of employed persons increased by 848 thousand persons compared to the same period of the previous year and has reached to 26 million 130 thousand persons in the period of May 2013. Agricultural employment decreased by 80 thousand persons and non-agricultural employment increased by 928 thousand persons in this period.
Of those who were employed in May 2013; 24% was employed in agriculture, 19.3% was employed in industry, 7.1% was employed in construction and 49.6% was employed in services. Employment in services increased by 0.8 percentage point, industry increased by 0.5 percentage point while that of agriculture decreased by 1.2 percentage point and construction decreased by 0.1 percentage point.Employment rate was realized as 47.1%
Employment rate increased from 46.3% to 47.1% with 0.8 percentage point increase compared to the same period of the previous year.Labour force participation rate was realized as 51.6%
Labour force participation rate (LFPR) realized as 51.6% with 1.1 percentage point increase compared to the same period of the previous year for Turkey in May 2013 period. Public sector employment
According to data gathered by The Ministry of Finance, total public sector employment realized as 3 million 239 thousand persons with 2.5 percentage point increase in the second quarter of 2013 compared to the same period of the previous year.The number of seasonally adjusted employed decreased, unemployed increased
Since January 2013, the number of seasonally adjusted indicators has been extended and “working sector”, “non-agricultural unemployment rate” and “youth unemployment rate” have been added to the current indicators.
In the period of May 2013, the number of seasonally adjusted employed persons decreased by 71 thousand persons and number of seasonally adjusted unemployed persons increased by 45 thousand persons compared to the previous period. Seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate realized as 51.2% by 0.1 percentage point decrease and employment rate realized as 46.3% by 0.2 percentage point decrease. Unemployment rate realized as 9.6% by 0.2 percentage point increase.
