Tourism income increased by 11%
In the third quarter; which is July, August and September months of 2014, tourism income increased by 11% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached $ 12 billion 854 million 373 thousand. While 81.8% of this income was obtained from foreign visitors, 18.2% was obtained from citizens resident abroad.
Visitors organise their travel individually or with package tour. While individual expenditures constituted $ 8 billion 905 million 882 thousand of the total tourism income, $ 3 billion 948 million 491 thousand of tourism income was obtained by package tour expenditures.Average expenditure of the visitors was $ 752 per capita
In this quarter while average expenditure of the foreigners was $ 712 per capita, average expenditure of the Turkish citizens resident abroad was $ 963 per capita.Number of departing visitors increased by 6.4%
In this quarter number of departing visitors increased 6.4% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to 17 million 84 thousand 13. While 85.8% of visitors was foreign (14 million 664 thousand 611 persons), 14.2% of them was Turkish citizens resident abroad (2 million 419 thousand 402 persons). Tourism expenditure decreased by 3.8% compared to III. quarter of 2013
Tourism expenditure which is the expenditure of the Turkish citizens resident in Turkey and visited abroad, decreased by 3.8% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to $ 1 billion 178 million 170 thousand. While $ 1 billion 44 million 174 thousand of total expenditures was individual expenditures, $ 133 million 996 thousand of tourism expenditures was package tour expenditures.Number of Turkish citizens visited abroad increased by 10.4%
