Consumer confidence index increased by 5%
The Consumer Confidence Index calculated from the results of the Consumer Tendency Survey carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey increased by 5% in March compared to the previous month; while the index was 69.2 in February, it rose to 72.7 in March. Probability of saving increased by 9.6%
The index of probability of saving in the next 12 months increased by 9.6% compared to the previous month and rose from 22 in February to 24.1 in March. This increase shows that the possibility of saving of consumers in the next 12 months period increased compared to the previous month.General economic situation expectation increased by 6.1%
The index of general economic situation expectation in the next 12 months which was 90.4 in February increased by 6.1% and became 95.9 in March. This rise shows that number of consumers expected a better general economic situation in the next 12 months compared to the previous month.Number of people unemployed expectation increased by 4.9%
The index of expectation for the number of unemployed persons in the next 12 months increased by 4.9% and became 79.5 in March. This increase stemmed from the decrease in the ratio of people expecting an increase in the number of unemployed persons.Financial situation expectation increased by 2.9%
The index of financial situation expectation of household in the next 12 months period rose by 2.9% compared to the previous month and became 91.4 in March. This increase arose from the rise in the ratio of better financial situation expectation of household in the next 12 months period.The next release on this subject will be on April 28, 2014.
In monthly Consumer Tendency Survey, consumers’ assessments on current situation and their expectations for personal financial standing and general economic situation have been evaluated, their expenditure and saving tendencies for near future have been measured.
The consumer confidence index calculated from the survey results is evaluated within the range of 0-200. It indicates an optimistic outlook when the index is above 100, but it indicates a pessimistic outlook when it is below 100.
