Consumer confidence index increased by 1%
The consumer confidence index calculated from the results of the consumer tendency survey carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey increased by 1% in September compared to the previous month; while the index was 73.2 in August, it rose to 74 in September. General economic situation expectation increased by 2.3%
The general economic situation expectation index which was 99.8 in August rose by 2.3% and became 102.1 in September. This increase shows that number of consumers expected a better general economic situation in the next 12 months increased compared to the previous month.Number of people unemployed expectation increased by 1.3%
The number of people unemployed expectation index increased by 1.3% compared to the previous month and became 78.7 in September. This increase stemmed from the decrease in the ratio of people expecting an increase in the number of unemployed persons in the next 12 months. Probability of saving increased by 0.9%
The probability of saving index increased by 0.9% and rose from 23.7 in August to 23.9 in September. This increase shows that the possibility of saving of consumers in the next 12 months period increased compared to the previous month.Financial situation expectation decreased by 0.6%
The financial situation expectation of household index decreased by 0.6% compared to the previous month and became 91.2 in September. This decline arose from the decrease in the ratio of better financial situation expectation of household in the next 12 months period.The next release on this subject will be on October 30, 2014.
In monthly consumer tendency survey, consumers’ assessments on current situation and their expectations for personal financial standing and general economic situation have been evaluated, their expenditure and saving tendencies for near future have been measured.
The consumer confidence index calculated from the survey results is evaluated within the range of 0-200. It indicates an optimistic outlook when the index is above 100, but it indicates a pessimistic outlook when it is below 100.
