Exports and imports increased by 8.1% and 7%, respectively
According to the provisional data, produced with the cooperation of the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Customs and Trade, in June 2016; exports were 12 billion 916 million dollars with a 8.1% increase and imports were 19 billion 475 million dollars with a 7% increase compared with June 2015.
Foreign trade deficit increased by 5%
In June 2016, foreign trade deficit was 6 billion 559 million dollars with a 5% increase compared with June 2015.
In June 2016, exports coverage imports was 66.3%, while it was 65.7% in June 2015.
Seasonally and calendar adjusted exports increased by 1.8%
Seasonally and calendar adjusted exports increased by 1.8% and imports increased by 12%, compared with previous month. Calendar adjusted exports increased by 8.2%, imports increased by 6.8% compared with June 2015.
Exports to the European Union (EU-28) increased by 13.8%
As compared with the same month of the previous year, exports to the EU-28 increased by 13.8% from 5 billion 507 million dollars to 6 billion 267 million dollars. The proportion of the EU countries was 48.5% in June 2016, while it was 46.1% in June 2015.
The main partner for exports was Germany
In June 2016, the main partner country for exports was Germany with 1 billion 228 million dollars. Germany was followed by the United Kingdom (1 billion 103 million dollars), Italy (717 million dollars) and the USA (629 million dollars).
The top country for imports was China
In June 2016, the top country for Turkey’s imports was China (2 billion 602 million dollars), records for imports range from Germany (2 billion 272 million dollars), the USA (1 billion 735 million dollars) and Russia (1 billion 478 million dollars).
Ratio of exports of high-tech products in manufacturing industries was 3.5%
Foreign trade by technology intensity covers the manufacturing industries’ products in classification of ISIC Rev.3. According to the ISIC Rev.3, the ratio of manufacturing industries products in total exports was 94.3% in June. The ratio of high-technology products in manufacturing industries was 3.5%. The ratio of medium-high-technology products in manufacturing industries’ products was 33.4%.
Ratio of imports of high-tech products in manufacturing industries was 20.4%
The ratio of manufacturing industries’ products in total imports was 86.2%. The ratio of high-technology products in manufacturing industries’ products was 20.4% in June 2016. The ratio of medium-high-technology products in manufacturing industries’ products was 42.9%.
