In our country 3 out of every 10 people live in a different province from the province of birth
According to the results of 2015 Address Based Population Registration System (ABPRS), 64.9% of population living in our country reside in their province of birth while 31.3% of them reside in another province. In addition 2% of population residing in our country were born abroad.

Kahramanmaraş has the highest proportion of population who reside in the province of birth
Kahramanmaraş has the highest proportion of population with 90.1% whose place of birth is same with their usual residence. This province was followed by Şanlıurfa with 89.4% and Adıyaman with 89.1%.
Yalova has the lowest proportion of population who reside in the province of birth
The province which has the lowest proportion of population who reside in the province of birth was Yalova with 29.8%. This province was followed by Kocaeli with 42.6% and Tekirdağ with 43% respectively.

3.1% of the residents of İstanbul were born abroad
Among the people who born in another place but residing in our most populous province İstanbul; persons who were born abroad took the first place. Sivas with 2.5% was the second and Ordu with 2% was the third province in this ranking. On the other hand, first place was received by the persons who were born in Bulgaria with 23.7%, among the foreign-born residents of İstanbul.
Within the residents of Ankara, who were not born in this second populous province of Turkey; people born in Çorum (4.6%), Yozgat (4.1%) and Kırıkkale (2.3%) took the first three places respectively.
In this context, people who were born in Manisa (3.7%) mostly reside in İzmir which is our third highest populated province. This province was followed by foreign-born (2.9%) and Erzurum-born (2.3%) people. On the other hand, first place was taken by the persons who were born in Bulgaria with 40.3%, among the foreign-born residents of İzmir.

In our country 1 out of every 10 people was born in İstanbul
9.6% of the population was born in İstanbul within the population residing in Turkey. In this category, Ankara took the second place with 4.3%. This province was followed by İzmir with 3.3%, Şanlıurfa and Konya with 2.8% respectively.
Bulgaria-born persons ranked first place among foreign-born people
According to the country distribution of foreign-born population residing in Turkey; it is seen that Bulgaria-born people took the first place with 23.8%. These persons were followed by people who were born in Germany (16.5%), Iraq (6.1%), Syria (4.8%) and Azerbaijan (3.3%) respectively.
74% of foreign-born population was comprised of 15-64 age group
74% of the foreign-born population residing in Turkey was in the working age group (aged 15-64). 45.6% of this population was males while 54.4% was females.
The proportion of children aged 0-14 years in the foreign-born population was 14.7%. The proportion of males in this age group was 51.5% while 48.5% was females.
The proportion of elderly population aged 65 years and over in the foreign-born population was 11.3%. 44.3% of this population was male and 55.7% was female.

EXPLANATIONS
Information on place of birth has been produced by linking the results of 2015 ABPRS with the Central Civil Registration System and Register of Foreigners executed by General Directorate of Civil Registration and Nationality.
In the previous press release on "Place of Birth Statistics, 2014" information on place of birth was presented for only Turkish citizens residing in Turkey. But in this press release, place of birth information for foreign-born population residing in Turkey was included.
