Tourism Statistics, III. Quarter: July-September, 2017
Tourism income increased by 37.6%
In the third quarter which is July, August and September months of 2017 tourism income increased by 37.6% and reached to $ 11 billion 391 million 668 thousand. While 77% of this income (excluding GSM roaming and marina service expenditures) was obtained from foreign visitors, 23% was obtained from citizens resident abroad.
Visitors organise their travel individually or with package tour. While individual expenditures constituted $ 8 billion 855 million 369 thousand of the total tourism income, $ 2 billion 536 million 299 thousand of tourism income was obtained by package tour expenditures.
Average expenditure of the visitors was $ 684 per capita
In this quarter while average expenditure of the foreigners was $ 634 per capita, average expenditure of the Turkish citizens resident abroad was $ 900 per capita.
Number of departing visitors increased by 38.1%
In this quarter number of departing visitors increased by 38.1% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to 16 million 663 thousand 265 persons. While 82.6% of visitors was foreign with 13 million 770 thousand 308 persons, 17.4% of them was Turkish citizens resident abroad with 2 million 892 thousand 957 persons.
Tourism expenditure increased by 37.9%
Tourism expenditure which is the expenditure of the Turkish citizens resident in Turkey and visited abroad, increased by 37.9% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to $ 1 billion 560 million 756 thousand. While $ 1 billion 217 million 678 thousand of total expenditures was individual expenditures, $ 343 million 78 thousand of tourism expenditures was package tour expenditures.
Number of Turkish citizens visited abroad increased by 12.5%
In this quarter number of Turkish citizens visited abroad increased by 12.5% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to 2 million 514 thousand 317. Average expenditure was $ 621 per capita.
