Tourism income increased by 13.2%
In the second quarter which is April, May and June months of 2019 tourism income increased by 13.2% and reached to $ 7 billion 973 million 963 thousand. While 87.8% of this income (excluding GSM roaming and marina service expenditures) was obtained from foreign visitors, 12.2% was obtained from citizens resident abroad.
Visitors organise their travel individually or with package tour. While individual expenditures constituted $ 5 billion 576 million 564 thousand of the total tourism income, 2 billion $ 397 million 399 thousand of tourism income was obtained by package tour expenditures.Average expenditure of the visitors was $ 625 per capita
In this quarter while average expenditure of the foreigners was $ 607 per capita, average expenditure of the Turkish citizens resident abroad was $ 766 per capita.Number of departing visitors increased by 15.3%
In this quarter number of departing visitors increased by 15.3% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to 12 million 762 thousand 346 persons. While 90.1% of visitors was foreign with 11 million 499 thousand 211 persons, 9.9% of them was Turkish citizens resident abroad with 1 million 263 thousand 135 persons.Tourism expenditure decreased by 34.4%
Tourism expenditure which is the expenditure of the Turkish citizens resident in Turkey and visited abroad, decreased by 34.4% compared to same quarter of previous year and declined to $ 1 billion 82 million 543 thousand. While $ 967 million 276 thousand of total expenditures was individual expenditures, $ 115 million 266 thousand of tourism expenditures was package tour expenditures.Number of Turkish citizens visited abroad increased by 11.4%
