: Fishery statistics cover data on sea products, freshwater and aquaculture products.
Scope of the Data
Fishery statistics compiled by two types are as follows:
1. Statistics of Sea Fishes and Catch of Crustaceans, Molluscs, etc. and
2. Statistics of Fresh-Water Fish and Aquaculture Production.
1- Statistics of Sea Fishes and Catch of Crustaceans, Molluscs
From 2014 sea fish and other sea products production statistics are compiled by Monthly Large Scale Fishermen Survey and Sesonal Small Scale Fishermen Survey from fihermen. Vessel properties and economical structure statistics are compiled by Yearly Marine Fishery Survey.
This survey covers all professional fishermen fishing at territorial waters.
Fisherman is the statistical unit of the survey.
A professional fishing person is defined as one of who engages in the activity of fishing in territorial waters for live hood and for income and who employs specialized equipment and materials to this end
2- Statistics of Fresh-Water Fish and Aquaculture Production
It covers all professional fishermen fishing at freshwater and fishery producers and aquaculture enterprises.
The data on sea products are presented at regional and national levels, data on freshwater products and aquaculture are presented at provincial and national levels.
After the Marine Fishery Questionnaires entry, necessary analysis are made by the Agricultural Production Statistics Group.
Data on freshwater and aquaculture are directly from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock.
The obtained data is published in the following reference year.

1. Statistics of Sea Fishes and Catch of Crustaceans, Molluscs
In the application of the surveys, the statistics of previous month and previous year are compiled by the method of face to face in coastal band of 28 provinces.
In this survey, the complete enumeration is used for large scale fishermen and the sampling method is used for small scale fishermen.
Large scale fishermen: It is a fisherman who has a vessel equal or more than 10 meters length.
Small scale fishermen: It is a fisherman who has a vessel less than 10 meters length.
2. Freshwater and Aquaculture Statistics
Freshwater and aquaculture questionnaires are sent to Province Directorates of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock each year regularly. These forms are compiled by staff of Province Directorates by interviewing with fishery cooperatives, fishery producers and aquaculture enterprises are sent to Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock. After compiling by provinces and types at MHAL, questionnaires are sent to TURKSTAT.
Turkey's fishery data are processed only by the Turkish Statistical Institute.
Revision is not foreseen in 2017. In case of any revision it will be shared with the public.
