Building Construction Cost Index (BCCI) is a measure of the changes in the cost of input items used in construction by periods.
Item coverage: 12 items for labour cost and 109 items for material are monitored quarterly.2005 based BCCI, calculated for labour, materials and subgroups of these components, was compiled for types of building classified below:Two and more dwelling residential buildings (A)One dwelling residential buildings (E)Residential buildings (A + E)Other buildings (Commercial, administrative, school, medical buildings)Building (Residential buildings + Other usage)Geographical coverage: Turkey.
Index formula: LaspeyresReference period: 2005 =100.Computation of the lowest level indices: Arithmetic average of prices is used to combine basic price observation to first level index. Frequency of weight updates: 5-7 years. Period of current index weight: 2005.
Weights for types of building and items used in compilation of 2005 based BCCI were calculated evaluating bill of quantities obtained from the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement (which was renamed to the current Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning on 29 June 2011) with 2005 prices published by the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement.
Revision is not foreseen in 2016. In case of any revision it will be shared with the public.
Results of the BCCI are announced to the public in the 20th day or consequent working day of the following month of the quarter at 10:00 with a news bulletin.The data are disseminated simultaneously to all interested parties through a database and news bulletin.All of the statistics published and compiled by TurkStat are arranged by decrees numbered 219/1984 and 357/1989 and Statistical Law of 1962. Collected data are confidential and used only for statistical purposes.
