Mehmet Aktaş



Mr. Mehmet AKTAŞ was born in 1970 in Kadınhanı – Konya Province, Turkey. Mr. Aktaş received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Middle East Technical University in 1994 and completed his Master’s Degree in Economics at Institute of Social Sciences, Kırıkkale University.

Between the years of 1994-1999, he worked as research assistant at Kırıkkale University and Ankara University. He worked as a contracted personnel at Undersecretariat for Defence Industries between 1999 and 2004.

Mr. Aktaş was appointed as Head of Statistics and Econometric Analysis Department in State Institute of Statistics of Turkey in 2004. Between 2005-2010, he worked as Head of National Accounts and Economic Indicators Department in the Institute.

He was appointed as Vice-President of TurkStat on 16 August 2010. Mr. Aktaş has been working as Acting President of TurkStat since 16 February 2016.
