Purpose: Industrial Turnover Index is calculated in order to measure the evolution of the market of industry.
Classification: Statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community (NACE Rev.2) is used.
Geographical coverage: Whole country (Turkey) is covered.
Activity coverage: Mining and quarrying sector (B), Manufacturing industry (C) classified in NACE Rev.2 are covered in industrial turnover index except “Mining support services” (09) sector.
Reference period and frequency: Monthly.
Data source: Data used for calculation of the index are collected by “Monthly Industry Production Questionnaire”. The published data is temporary and might be revised.
Type of index: Laspeyres index method (weighted) with fixed base year is used. Domestic, non domestic and total indices are calculated separately. While calculating indices; the units whose income came from the sales of produced products have major part in their turnover in base year are selected.
Base year: Base year of the index is 2010.
Sample sizes: According to the results of Annual Business Statistics Survey, enterprises, whose main activity is mining and quarrying and manufacturing, employed 20 or more persons and constitute the 80 percent of the total value added.
Nature of weights: Weights are obtained from the results of Structural Business Survey for 2010. For the division of domestic and non domestic values, short term business statistics values for 2010 are used.

Aggregation: Indices are aggregated for industry sector (B and C) of NACE Rev.2 classification.
Data collection methods: Monthly Industrial Production Survey data are sent via web applications by businesses.
Procedures for non-response: Non-responding units are followed up on telephone or by interviewers. When a unit refuses to respond, the unit is reminded of its legal obligation to respond and legal procedure begins.
Treatment of missing data: In non response situation, change ratios over to the previous month or year are used for imputation.
Verification of processing: Staff regularly reviews the compilation process comparing the preceding figures.
Seasonal adjustment: The data are seasonally and calendar adjusted with directt method.
Consistency with other indicators: As a part of the review process, the index is compared with industrial production index.
